PRINCETON, N.J., July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Informex show management announced today the opening of Informex Latin America registration and made public the event's conference program. Informex, the leading specialty chemical tradeshow for buyers and sellers of high-value chemistry across a broad range of applications, will host the inaugural Informex Latin America show on August 23-24, 2010 in Sao Paulo, Brazil at the Amcham Convention Center.  The new Informex Latin America event will include an international conference, tabletop exhibition, networking programs and is expected to bring together more than 1500 professionals, including exhibitors, attendees and conference participants.  

The conference will feature discussion about advances in green and sustainable chemistry, the future of the chemical industry in Latin America, governmental incentives and initiatives in Brazil and innovative developments in the some of the diverse Latin American markets. Informex Latin America will provide valuable insight, education and networking for professionals involved in the specialty chemical market.

The two-day conference will also cover additional topics which are critical for industry leaders, including forecasting the chemical business in Brazil, the transportation and distribution of chemicals, new technologies and initiatives in environmental chemistry, new government regulations affecting the chemical industry, including import and export, and more.  In addition to exhibits from both international and Brazilian companies, there will be a high-profile networking luncheon where attendees and exhibitors can choose to be paired up to discuss potential business opportunities.

Boasting one of the fastest growing economies in the world, Brazil is rebounding well from the global economic downturn.  In Brazil alone, the chemical industry's net sales in 2009 were US$103 billion, 48% of which represented industrial chemicals, 15% pharmaceutical products, with the remaining segments (paints, coatings, soap and detergent, cosmetics, perfumes, crops/fertilizers) totaling 37%*.   Sao Paulo, widely regarded as the business capital of Latin America, is also a major hub for the chemical industry.  According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), there are approximately 5, 500 chemical companies operating in the country representing 1,096 chemical industries.  604 of these companies are located in the state of Sao Paulo.
