Why Charlotte?
InformexUSA is a homeless show. Unlike many shows that have either a fixed location or that move between a couple of set cities, InformexUSA moves around the country. Both the fixed model and the traveling model have unique benefits.
Stationary Model
- Best for industries that are centered in one location
- Good for planning many years in advance
- Allows for a set routine of hotels and restaurants
- Caters to fixed markets
Traveling Model
- Best for evolving industries
- Good for exhibitors/attendees that have changing travel budgets
- Allows for varying travel time commitments
- Keeps the exhibitors/attendees fresh
- Enables us to cater to a variety of markets
- Gives the potential for new partnerships
To choose a new location we give serious consideration to the options that are presented to be voted on each year. We also consult with our SOCMA Informex Advisory Committee as to where they think would be the best location for Informex. It's quite difficult to find an appropriate location for an event of our size in January or February!
So why was Charlotte on the list?
- North Carolina is the 4th largest chemical producer. The only states with more chemical production are Texas, New Jersey, and Louisiana.
- Charlotte is also only 2 hours from ResearchTrianglePark.
- North Carolina boasts 528 bioscience companies, which employ about 57,000 people.
- North Carolina is one of the leading states in plastics, rubber and related chemical industries, which employ about 44,500 at more than 650 facilities
