SYRGIS PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS PICKS INDUSTRY VETERAN FOR CTO ROLE
Dr. Wayne Rohrbaugh Named Chief Technology Officer
COVINGTON, KY. – (Jan. 27, 2009) – Syrgis Performance Products, an international diversified group of fine and specialty chemical manufacturers, today announced that Wayne J. Rohrbaugh, Ph.D. will assume the role of chief technology officer, a newly created position at the company.
“Wayne’s vast experience in research and technology innovation as well as marketing and business development brings additional depth and breadth of perspective to the Syrgis’ management team,” said Andy Harris, Syrgis CEO. “We look forward to his leadership to help better meet the needs of our customers and further develop and drive innovation across Syrgis’ R&D and operations through new products as well as process development and optimization.”
Rohrbaugh brings more than 30 years of experience as a proven visionary, evangelist, scientist and educator to Syrgis. In his new role as chief technology officer at Syrgis, Rohrbaugh will lead the company’s R&D efforts and foster the company’s commitment to technology-driven advances in process control and design. Previously, Rohrbaugh was a director of research and technology innovation at USG Corporation and also at Ashland Inc., where he had additional responsibilities, including operations and fiscal management; global analytical, engineering and information research services; and division marketing, business development and strategic planning activities. Rohrbaugh also held scientific management positions at ICI Americas Inc. and at Mobil Oil Corporation. In addition to his industrial experience, Rohrbaugh carried out research at the Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory and Brookhaven National Laboratory and also held professorships at Rowan University and Wesley College.
Recognized as an industry leader, Rohrbaugh has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career and has published 24 papers and presentations. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Drexel University and received his doctorate in physical chemistry from Iowa State University of Science and Technology.
